        In short
Miracuves places technical and solution architects inside your engineering team to own system design, architecture decision records, design reviews and non-functional requirements such as scale, security and recovery. They do not manage people. Part-time is $1,499 a month and full-time $3,299 a month, month-to-month with two weeks' notice. You interview every match, most start within 72 hours, and replacement is free in the first two weeks.

What This Role Does

## What a dedicated technical architect does inside your engineering org

This is not a PowerPoint consultant who disappears after the diagram. A Miracuves dedicated technical architect embeds in your delivery - your RFC process, your architecture reviews, your migration programs. They make decisions that survive contact with production. They work inside your codebase and your review process, so the architecture reflects what the team can actually operate rather than a diagram that never meets production.

Every architect works a live system design problem on load, failure and recovery before matching, and each profile names the re-platforms and migrations they have led, so you can test those claims in your own interview. Hire an architect when the open questions are structural: where services split, how data moves, what the system must survive. If the design is already settled and the backlog simply needs hands, an architect is the wrong spend. We say so before you sign; a delivery team from our [software development](https://miracuves.com/service/software-development/) practice, or a product started from the [clone solutions](https://miracuves.com/solutions/) catalog, will move that backlog faster. Other ways to hire are listed further down the page.

- Authors ADRs and RFCs that engineering teams actually reference during builds
- Reviews designs for scalability, security, and operability before code is written
- **Plans migrations with phased cutovers:** not big-bang rewrites that never finish
- Mentors senior engineers on tradeoff thinking without becoming an approval bottleneck
- Delivers an architecture health review every sprint with prioritized remediation

Sample Profiles

## What an architect shortlist looks like

Each profile names the systems the architect has designed, the specialty they lead with and the decisions they are best placed to own, so you can compare them before the first design interview.

Honest Comparison

## Miracuves vs architecture consultancies and in-house hiring - an honest comparison

An architecture consultancy sells an assessment, and a permanent hire takes months to find and is hard to undo. Miracuves places a technical architect who sits inside your design reviews at a published monthly rate, with a replacement if the match fails. Use this table when someone asks why not a consultancy or an in-house architect; the wrong choice tends to show up a year later as decisions nobody wrote down. It compares who owns the decisions, where the records live and what leaving costs, not only the monthly figure.

      Hire through Miracuves if…
Design decisions are piling up faster than anyone on your team can own them, and you want an architect inside your reviews and repositories who stays while the migration runs, at a published rate and replaceable if the match is wrong. Need an executive to own technology strategy, budget and hiring instead? Compare [fractional CTO services](https://miracuves.com/service/cto-services/).

Choose something else if…
You need one independent assessment for a board or an acquisition (a consultancy fits that), or the design is settled and what you lack is build capacity, in which case [remote developers](https://miracuves.com/service/hire-remote-developers/) are the better hire. For full product builds without staffing, see our [90+ solutions](https://miracuves.com/solutions/).

Architect hiring guide

## Before you hire a technical architect: the decisions that matter

What the role owns, how it differs from a senior developer or a fractional CTO, and how to choose between part-time reviews and a full-time architect.

### What does a technical architect own, and what is outside the role?

An architect owns the decisions that are expensive to reverse: how the system splits into services, where data lives and how it moves, which parts must scale and what happens when one of them fails. The non-functional requirements - latency targets, availability, security boundaries, recovery time - are theirs to write down and defend.

What the role leaves out is line management. Your engineering managers keep hiring, one-to-ones and performance reviews; the architect leads through decisions and the review process, not through a reporting line.

- System design for new platforms and large features, before code is written
- Architecture decision records (ADRs) that explain each significant choice and the options rejected
- Design and pull request reviews on changes that cross a service boundary
- Non-functional requirements, with the tests or dashboards that prove each one

### Technical architect, senior developer or fractional CTO: which do you need?

A senior developer ships features well inside a design somebody has already settled. An architect settles the design across several teams and systems, and spends more time writing and reviewing than building. A fractional CTO owns something else again: technology strategy, budget, vendor choices and the engineering organization itself, usually answering to the founders or the board.

If your problem is speed on a sound design, hire developers. If it is systems that no longer fit together, or a migration nobody can plan end to end, hire an architect. If nobody senior owns technology at all, start with [fractional CTO services](https://miracuves.com/service/cto-services/); an architect can join later to carry out the plan.

### Solution, cloud or data architect: which specialty fits?

Most briefs lead with one of three specialties, and every profile states which one the architect leads with.

Certifications are listed per profile. Some architects hold AWS, Azure or Google Cloud architect certifications and some do not; we state what each one holds rather than promising it for everyone, and the design exercise tests the judgment a certificate cannot.

- Solution architect - designs one product or program end to end: services, integrations, data flow and the path away from what runs today
- Cloud architect - account and network structure, managed versus self-hosted services, resilience across zones and regions, and the monthly bill on AWS, Azure or GCP
- Data architect - operational schemas, change data capture, pipelines into a warehouse, and schema changes that do not break the systems reading them

### Part-time architecture reviews or a full-time architect?

Part-time, at $1,499 a month for 20 hours a week, fits when the architecture mostly works and needs a steady second opinion: reviewing RFCs before they are approved, a pre-scale audit, technical due diligence ahead of a funding round or an acquisition, or keeping the decision log current while one team builds.

Full-time, at $3,299 a month for 40 hours a week, fits when decisions arrive daily: a monolith being split, a cloud migration under way, several teams depending on the same boundaries. A simple test is the review queue. If designs wait more than a few days for the architect, part-time has become the bottleneck. Moving between the two only changes the engagement letter.

### How does an architect hand decisions over to your team?

An architect whose decisions live only in their head has left you a risk, not a design. The handover starts on the first day, because every decision is written where your team already works.

When the engagement ends, your engineering leads should be able to run the review process without the architect in the room.

- ADRs in your repository, each with its context, the options considered and the consequences
- RFCs your engineers comment on before a design is approved, so the reasoning is shared rather than announced
- Diagrams kept next to the code and updated with it, not exported to slides
- Runbooks and automated checks that stop a boundary or a performance budget from drifting
- Pairing with your senior engineers on the first implementation of each major decision

### What should the first month with an architect produce?

Artifacts you can open, not impressions. In the first week the architect should be in your repositories and your review forum, with a first decision under discussion and a written view of the system as it actually runs, which is often different from the last diagram anyone drew.

If a month passes without these, raise it with your Miracuves contact. The replacement guarantee covers the first two weeks, and after that the notice period is two weeks.

- A map of services, data stores and external dependencies, with unclear ownership marked
- The few risks most likely to cause an outage or a stalled migration, ranked
- ADRs for the decisions made so far, in your repository
- An architecture health review each sprint, with remediation in priority order

## How an architect earns a place on your shortlist

Nobody reaches you on a CV alone. Two of the six stages are practical: a live system design problem, and a paid review of a real, anonymized design.

1. **Stage 01**
### Role screening

A 45-minute call on systems they designed, which of those decisions they would reverse today, and why.
2. **Stage 02**
### System design exercise

A live problem with a load target and a failure scenario: they draw the design, name what breaks first and write the decision record.
3. **Stage 03**
### Work review

A senior Miracuves architect reads decision records, RFCs and diagrams they produced before, redacted where a past client requires it.
4. **Stage 04**
### Reference check

Where one applies, an engineering lead who built under their decisions, asked whether those decisions held up.
5. **Stage 05**
### Communication

Explaining a trade-off to a product owner in plain words, and holding a position in a design review without stalling it.
6. **Stage 06**
### Paid trial sprint

A short paid review of a real anonymized design, ending in written recommendations, before the profile is shown to you.

Team Structures

## Four ways to structure your architecture function

Start with one principal architect or add platform and security architecture capacity as complexity grows. The engagement letter records the shape you pick: which architects join, the hours they overlap with your engineering leads, the escalation route and the replacement terms, whether that is one architect, a pair or a guild.

      ArchSolo
### Single Dedicated Architect

One principal architect owning standards and reviews. Best with strong engineering managers.

- Best for: Scale-ups after product-market fit

ArchPlatDuo
### Arch + Platform

Solution architect paired with platform engineer for paved-road delivery.

- Best for: Teams adopting microservices

LeadSecDataPod
### Architecture Guild

Lead architect, security architect, and data architect for enterprise programs.

- Best for: Regulated multi-product organizations

Arch++Flexible
### Migration Lead

Add architecture capacity for acquisitions, cloud moves, or re-platforms.

- Best for: Acquisitions, cloud moves and re-platforms

Vetting Standards

## How Miracuves vets every technical architect

An architect's profile reaches a client only after seven areas of judgment are tested, from capacity planning to explaining a trade-off to the people who will live with it.

- System design - capacity planning, failure domains, consistency modelsDesign
- Cloud architecture - multi-AZ, cost optimization, managed vs self-hostedCloud
- Distributed systems - messaging, sagas, idempotency, observabilityDistributed
- Security architecture - zero trust, secrets, blast radius containmentSecurity
- Data architecture - OLTP vs OLAP, CDC, schema evolutionData
- Migration - strangler fig, dual-write, rollback planningMigration
- Communication - RFC clarity, stakeholder alignment, mentoring judgmentComms

What's Included

## Every engagement includes this - no add-on tiers

Six terms come with every architect engagement, part-time or full-time, and none is billed as an extra.

        **01**
#### Your Architecture Repos

ADRs, diagrams, and RFCs authored in your systems from day one - not external slide decks.

**02**
#### Weekly Architecture Review

Every Friday, decisions, trade-offs, and migration progress reviewed live with engineering leads.

**03**
#### NDA + IP Assignment Day One

A bilateral NDA is signed before you share a single diagram. Every decision record, diagram and RFC the architect produces is assigned to you.

**04**
#### Async-First Communication

A short written note in Slack each day - decisions made, questions open, reviews waiting - and live design sessions inside your agreed overlap window.

**05**
#### Technical Governance

Standards, PR review cadence, and cross-team alignment - accountable delivery, not advisory-only.

**06**
#### 2-Week Replacement Guarantee

Should the architect prove a poor fit for your systems or your team during the first 2 weeks, Miracuves swaps them at no additional cost, and the decision records already written stay in your repositories.

What They Own

## What a technical architect actually owns

Architecture is the set of decisions that are expensive to reverse. An architect earns their cost by making fewer of those, later, and writing down why.

      **Decisions**
### The choices that are hard to undo

Data model, service boundaries, and what runs where. These get cheaper to change the earlier they are questioned and far more expensive afterwards.

In scope**Trade-offs**
### Written down, with reasons

Every significant choice recorded with the options considered and why they lost, so the team in a year knows the reasoning rather than guessing at it.

In scope**Boundaries**
### Where systems separate

What talks to what, and through which contract. Most systems that become unmaintainable did so at the seams, not inside the components.

In scope**Scale**
### What breaks first, and when

Identifying the actual constraint before it bites, rather than optimizing the part that was interesting to optimize.

In scope**Standards**
### How the team builds consistently

Review rules, patterns and conventions that survive the architect leaving, because knowledge in one head is a risk.

In scope**Pragmatism**
### Saying no to complexity

## From signed NDA to first architecture decision

Most clients have a matched architect with access to their repositories within 72 hours of agreement, and the first decision record open for review in week one. The architect's name, overlap hours, rate and replacement terms are in your engagement letter before anyone is given access, so the roadmap never waits on a verbal promise.

**Why we publish rates**Architecture work resists fixed-scope quotes, so we publish a monthly rate instead. When your program calls for another shape, such as reviews only until a platform decision and full-time through the migration, we tell you and price that shape.

### What affects your monthly rate

Your rate depends on the structure you choose (part-time, full-time or a guild), not on how many systems the architect reviews. It stays fixed unless the scope changes materially, for example a second product line or a move to full-time, and any change is written down before it applies.

### Typical engagement structures

Part-time ($1,499/mo): 20 hrs/week for architecture reviews, RFC sign-off and technical due diligence.

Full-time ($3,299/mo): 40 hrs/week owning design reviews and the decision log.

Architecture Guild: custom quote for 3-5 people, an architect with senior engineers.

Each structure runs month-to-month with two weeks' notice; annual terms are available if you want the rate locked.

## Build with Miracuves - staffing or full product delivery

An architect often draws the plan for a product Miracuves can also build. When the design points to a platform that already exists among our 90+ ready-made bases, the build can start from that base, under the same NDA and the same IP terms, instead of from an empty repository. Some clients keep the architect on as the design authority while a Miracuves delivery team builds; others hand the plan to their own engineers. The products below are examples of bases an architect would review before a build begins.

## Questions about hiring from Miracuves

Something not covered here? Ask on WhatsApp and you will usually have an answer within two hours.

        [Ask us directly](https://wa.me/919830009649)

How is a Miracuves technical architect different from a consultancy's architecture assessment?
Assessment decks do not ship migrations. Miracuves architects embed with your engineering org - writing RFCs, reviewing PRs, prototyping risky integrations, and mentoring leads while code moves. Vetting includes bounded-context exercises and phased migration planning on realistic codebases. You get accountable technical leadership, not a PDF that gathers dust.

Are architects advisory-only, or do they write code and review pull requests?
Senior matches are hands-on. They prototype critical paths, participate in architecture review boards, and hold the bar on PRs that affect system boundaries - not slide-only consultants who avoid repositories. Profiles that cannot demonstrate recent shipping context in vetting are rejected.

Do you cover AWS, Azure, GCP, and microservices migration patterns?
Cloud platform experience is matched to your stack. Vetting covers distributed system tradeoffs - consistency models, event-driven boundaries, observability, and phased strangler migrations - not buzzword checklists. State your current monolith or multi-service context during matching so shortlisted profiles reflect production-relevant depth.

We already have senior engineers. Why add an external architect?
Architects fill cross-system ownership gaps when no internal lead has bandwidth across services, data platforms, and third-party integrations. They mentor existing staff, document decisions in ADRs your team retains, and accelerate migrations that stall when everyone is feature-bound. The role is elevation and coherence - not a parallel shadow org.

How much does it cost to hire a technical architect through Miracuves?
Part-time is $1,499 a month for 20 hours a week, with access to your architecture repositories and a weekly architecture review. Full-time is $3,299 a month for 40 hours a week, embedded in your engineering org with cross-team technical governance and at least 4 hours of time-zone overlap. An Architecture Guild of 3-5 people, an architect with senior engineers for migration programs and platform rebuilds, is quoted per team. Every engagement is month-to-month with two weeks' notice, and the rate stays fixed for the agreed structure unless the scope changes materially. Every quote is written before payment, with no surprise invoices after kickoff.

Can an architect engagement start part-time for RFC review before a platform rebuild?
Yes. Part-time at $1,499/mo covers 20 hours per week - common for pre-scale audits, due diligence, or RFC review before committing to a full-time architecture lead. Scope and deliverables are agreed in writing so part-time does not become vague 'office hours' without output.

How do architects work with product and security stakeholders?
They translate technical constraints into roadmap implications product can prioritize, and partner with security on threat models without blocking delivery arbitrarily. Communication clarity in ambiguous requirements is a vetting criterion - architects who cannot explain tradeoffs to non-engineers do not pass.

What if architecture recommendations do not fit our team's execution capacity?
The architect should have caught it first: a design your team cannot build or run is a failed design, and vetting tests for exactly that. If the fit is still wrong, the 2-week replacement guarantee covers a new match. You can also change the shape before committing further, from full-time program ownership to part-time reviews, and month-to-month terms mean you are never tied to an architect whose style does not suit your team.

Who owns architecture documents, diagrams, and prototype code?
Your organization retains all artifacts. RFCs, diagrams, and spike code live in your repos and wiki under signed IP assignment. Handoff is designed so internal teams can maintain decisions after engagement - not dependency on a consultant's proprietary framework.

Do your architects hold AWS or Azure architect certifications?
Some do and some do not, so we never promise it for everyone. Each profile states the certifications that architect actually holds, and you can ask for proof in the interview. Every architect, certified or not, passes the same live system design exercise and a paid trial, because a certificate shows knowledge of one cloud's services, not judgment about your system.

Is a technical architect the same as a solution architect?
The titles overlap. A solution architect usually designs one product or program end to end, while a technical architect may also set standards across several teams. At Miracuves both work the same way: system design, decision records, design reviews and non-functional requirements. Say which scope you need in the brief and the shortlist names the specialty each architect leads with.

Can a technical architect replace a CTO?
No, and we would not place one as a CTO. An architect owns design decisions and reviews; a CTO owns technology strategy, budget, hiring and the engineering organization. If you need both, you can pair Miracuves fractional CTO services with a dedicated architect who carries out the technical plan day to day.
