In short

Miracuves builds on BigCommerce for mid-market and B2B brands: custom Stencil themes, headless storefronts on the GraphQL Storefront API, private and public BigCommerce apps, B2B Edition setup and ERP integrations, in 2-8 weeks. Where one of our 90+ ready-made platforms suits the idea better, it launches in 6 working days on its own stack. The store runs on BigCommerce; the code we write is 100% yours.

Our BigCommerce Approach

How Miracuves delivers BigCommerce solutions - from 9,000+ projects of real experience

Across 9,000+ projects and 3,900+ published apps, Miracuves has settled on how BigCommerce work should run. When a catalogue product fits your idea better than a store, one of our 90+ ready-made platforms goes live in 6 working days on its own stack. When you need a BigCommerce store, the work starts from what BigCommerce already does well - hosted checkout, catalog, tax and promotions - and we build only what the platform does not: the theme, the apps and the integrations.

BigCommerce keeps one catalog, one set of customers and one checkout behind every storefront, whether that storefront is a Stencil theme, a headless Next.js front end or a mobile app reading the same APIs. Adding a channel means building its front end, not copying your product data, and every piece of code we write for it is handed over with its repository.

Who this service is built for: Mid-market brands and wholesalers who have outgrown their first store - a WooCommerce or OpenCart site straining under its catalog, a Magento store facing a costly upgrade, a Shopify store that now needs B2B pricing - and want a hosted platform without running servers. Miracuves BigCommerce development fits when you need several of theme, apps, ERP integration, migration and B2B Edition delivered by one company with published pricing and code you own, not by separate contractors. If you sell a handful of products direct to consumers, or you need to change the platform code itself, we will say so upfront and recommend Shopify or Magento instead.

  • Storefront speed measured on a preview with your real catalog before launch, never assumed
  • Theme, apps and integration services kept in separate repositories: each testable on its own
  • Every integration built on BigCommerce's documented APIs and webhooks: never by scraping the control panel
  • CI on GitHub Actions for every repository: theme bundles and app deploys built from version control
  • Go-live fully managed: DNS, SSL, 301 redirects from the old store and payment gateway checks

"An industrial parts distributor was leaving Magento 1 with customer-specific prices held in SAP Business One. Technology Comparison

BigCommerce vs Shopify vs WooCommerce - which is right for your project?

Agencies that only build on one platform tend to skip this comparison. Miracuves builds on all three, and the right choice for your store depends on who hosts it, what each sale costs you in fees, and how much B2B and multi-store work you need.

Consider an alternative if…

You are a small direct-to-consumer brand that wants the biggest app ecosystem (Shopify) · you must own and change the platform code (Magento) · your store lives inside a WordPress site (WooCommerce) · what you really need is a shopping app for phones. See React Native →

BigCommerce guide

What to know before you hire a BigCommerce development company

The questions brands and wholesalers ask us before a BigCommerce project, answered for BigCommerce specifically - themes or headless, apps and the API, B2B, ERP integration, and what you own on a hosted platform.

What do BigCommerce development services include?

BigCommerce hosts the store, runs checkout and keeps the platform patched, so development work sits around that core rather than inside it. A BigCommerce project usually combines some of five things: a storefront (a Stencil theme or a headless front end), catalog and order migration, apps that extend the control panel, integrations with ERP, PIM, tax and shipping systems, and B2B Edition or Multi-Storefront setup.

Miracuves scopes each of these separately and writes down which ones your store needs. A brand moving from WooCommerce with one warehouse needs a theme, a migration and redirects; a wholesaler that runs on quotes and an ERP needs B2B Edition and an order sync first. The quote follows from that list, not from a package.

Should your storefront be a Stencil theme or headless?

Stencil is BigCommerce's own theme framework: Handlebars templates, SCSS and JavaScript, developed locally with the Stencil CLI and pushed to the store as a bundle. It keeps Page Builder, the theme editor and most marketplace apps working, and BigCommerce hosts it. For most mid-market stores a custom Stencil theme, often started from the free Cornerstone theme, is the faster and cheaper route.

Headless means a separate front end - usually Catalyst, BigCommerce's open-source storefront built on Next.js - reading products, carts and customers through the GraphQL Storefront API, with checkout still handled by BigCommerce. It suits brands that need content-heavy pages, several front ends or tight control of page speed. The trade-off: you host and maintain that front end, and apps that inject scripts into a Stencil theme do not appear on it by themselves.

How are BigCommerce apps built, and what can the API do?

A BigCommerce app is a web application you host. The merchant installs it through an OAuth flow, BigCommerce issues an access token for that store, and the app's screens load inside the control panel. From there it works through the REST Management API (catalog, orders, customers, inventory), the GraphQL Storefront API, and webhooks that announce events such as a new order or a stock change.

Most apps Miracuves builds are private to one store: an ERP sync, a pricing engine, a returns tool or a product configurator. A public app for other merchants is a bigger job. It passes BigCommerce's review before it is listed in the App Marketplace, and it must handle many stores, uninstalls and API rate limits that differ by plan.

What does B2B Edition add for wholesale sellers?

B2B Edition is BigCommerce's add-on for selling to businesses. It changes the buyer's side of the store more than the catalog, and wholesale projects usually rely on these parts of it:

  • Company accounts with several buyers, each with a role and permissions
  • Quotes that a sales rep builds or edits and the buyer turns into an order
  • Price lists and catalogs per customer, alongside customer group pricing
  • Shopping lists and quick reorder from past orders
  • Purchase orders, payment on credit terms and an invoice portal

How does BigCommerce integrate with an ERP such as SAP?

Through its APIs, in both directions. Orders leave BigCommerce through webhooks and the Orders API; products, prices, stock and shipment status come back from the ERP through the Catalog and Inventory APIs. SAP Business One, SAP Business ByDesign and S/4HANA each expose their own web service interfaces, so the connector is an off-the-shelf app, an integration platform or a small service we write and you host.

The hard part is not the API call. It is deciding which system owns each field, mapping ERP customer and tax codes to BigCommerce customer groups and tax classes, and making every sync safe to replay when either side is down. We write that mapping down before building, queue each webhook so none is lost, and log every sync so your team can see why an order did not reach the ERP.

BigCommerce vs Shopify vs Magento: when is BigCommerce the right platform?

BigCommerce sits between the other two. It is hosted like Shopify, so there are no servers or security patches to manage, yet it builds in more of what larger catalogs need: customer group pricing, B2B Edition, several storefronts from one account, and no transaction fee from BigCommerce on top of your payment provider's charges.

Choose Shopify if you are a direct-to-consumer brand that wants the largest theme and app ecosystem and a quick launch. Choose Magento if you must own and modify the platform code or run heavily customized B2B logic on your own servers. WooCommerce fits stores that live inside a WordPress site, and OpenCart or PrestaShop suit smaller self-hosted stores. If BigCommerce is not the one, we say so in the first call.

What do you own when your store runs on BigCommerce?

BigCommerce is a hosted SaaS platform: its platform code, checkout and hosting stay with BigCommerce, and your store runs for as long as you keep a plan. What is yours: the store account, your catalog, customer and order data, your content and domain, and every line of code Miracuves writes for you - the theme, custom apps, integration services and any headless front end - with the repositories handed over and the IP assigned to you.

Your data is not locked in. Products, customers and orders can be exported as CSV or read through the API, which is how any migration off a platform works. Running costs are BigCommerce's plan (the published plans step up with your yearly online sales, and Enterprise is quoted), your payment provider's fees, any paid apps, and hosting for custom apps or a headless front end.

Technical Architecture

How Miracuves engineers structure BigCommerce projects for production

These are the decisions Miracuves engineers make on every BigCommerce project - where custom logic lives, how the theme and apps are deployed, and how integrations recover when something fails. They decide whether a store stays easy to change or has to be rebuilt after the next platform change.

  • 01

    Architecture - Clean, Feature-First Modules

Strict separation: Stencil theme → BigCommerce apps → integration services. The theme only renders; pricing rules, ERP syncs and custom workflows live in apps and services that talk to BigCommerce through its APIs, each in its own repository. That split is what lets Miracuves add a new store feature in 2 days without breaking anything already live.

  • 02

Structure - Modules with Clear Boundaries

When business rules sit in a service instead of theme JavaScript, they can be tested without a browser and changed without a theme push. The store we most often inherit has discount logic, stock checks and third-party scripts pasted into templates and Script Manager, where nobody can test them. We rule that out on day one as a hard standard - not a suggestion.

  • 03

    Performance - Measured, Not Assumed

Storefront pages load product data through the GraphQL Storefront API or Stencil front matter, asking only for the fields a template uses, and images come from BigCommerce's CDN at the size each layout needs. We measure Core Web Vitals on a preview loaded with the real catalog before launch; numbers from a demo store with a dozen products never count.

What most BigCommerce agencies get wrong

Changing the live theme directly in the control panel, outside version control. API tokens with every scope pasted into theme JavaScript. Webhook handlers that do all their work before replying, so BigCommerce retries and orders reach the ERP twice. No preview with the real catalog before launch. Miracuves has taken over stores with every one of these problems, and fixing them afterwards always costs more than building it right.

order-webhook.js - BigCommerce to ERP
// Order webhook -> ERP. Answer BigCommerce fast, do the work in a queue.import express from 'express';import { timingSafeEqual } from 'node:crypto';import { Queue } from 'bullmq';const erpSync = new Queue('erp-sync', { connection: { host: process.env.REDIS_HOST } });const app = express();// The secret travels in a custom header set when the webhook was createdfunction trusted(got = '') {  const want = Buffer.from(process.env.BC_WEBHOOK_SECRET);  const have = Buffer.from(got);  return have.length === want.length && timingSafeEqual(have, want);}app.post('/webhooks/bigcommerce', express.json(), async (req, res) => {  if (!trusted(req.get('X-Webhook-Secret'))) return res.sendStatus(401);  const { scope, data } = req.body;  // data: { type: 'order', id: 412 }  if (scope === 'store/order/created') {    // jobId dedupes a delivery BigCommerce retries    await erpSync.add('order', { orderId: data.id }, { jobId: `order-${data.id}` });  }  res.sendStatus(200);});// Worker: webhook bodies carry only the ID, so read the order backexport async function syncOrder({ orderId }, erp) {  const url = `https://api.bigcommerce.com/stores/${process.env.BC_STORE_HASH}/v2/orders/${orderId}`;  const r = await fetch(url, {    headers: { 'X-Auth-Token': process.env.BC_ACCESS_TOKEN, Accept: 'application/json' },  });  if (!r.ok) throw new Error(`order ${orderId}: HTTP ${r.status}`);  // job retried with backoff  await erp.upsertSalesOrder(await r.json());  // keyed on order ID, safe to replay}app.listen(3000);
Orders reach the ERP through a queue: the handler checks the shared secret, records the order ID and answers straight away, so BigCommerce does not time out and retry. A worker then reads the full order through the Orders API - webhook bodies carry only the ID - and upserts it, so a replayed job cannot create a second sales order.

Quality Standards

How Miracuves ensures every BigCommerce delivery meets production standard

Every BigCommerce delivery passes Miracuves' quality gates before handoff - the theme, each app and every integration, checked against the same standard whatever the size of the store.

  • Clean structure - theme, apps and integration services in separate repositoriesArchitecture
  • Pricing and stock rules in apps or BigCommerce settings - never in theme JavaScriptState
  • Page speed measured on a preview with the real catalog, not a demo storePerformance
  • Checkout tested with every enabled payment method on phone and desktop browsersQA
  • CI/CD pipeline - theme bundles and app deploys built and tested from version controlDevOps

  • Launch-ready - redirects, DNS, SSL, tax and shipping checked on the live storeDelivery

Enforced QA Gates

Our 6 Continuous Delivery Gateways

Every theme file, app release and integration job must pass all six gates below before the repositories and store access are handed over to you.

01

Code Review on Every Pull Request

Every change to your theme, apps or integrations is reviewed by a senior Miracuves engineer before it merges. Nothing untested is pushed to your live storefront or installed on your store, whatever the deadline.

02

Automated Test Coverage Required

Unit tests for pricing, mapping and sync logic, integration tests against a BigCommerce test store for every API call an app makes, and end-to-end tests for search, cart and checkout on the theme. Minimum coverage enforced before any release.

03

Storefront Measured on Real Data - Not a Demo Catalog

Miracuves measures page speed and Core Web Vitals on a preview loaded with your real catalog, images and apps. A demo store with a few products says nothing about a category page with thousands of items, so its numbers are never accepted as the result.

04

Handoff Package - Not Just a Repository

Theme source and bundle, app and integration repositories with their documentation, an environment setup guide, the API scopes and webhook list, deployment credentials, BigCommerce store access and a post-launch runbook - all included in every project handoff.

05

Go-Live - Theme, Redirects and Payments Managed

Miracuves applies the theme, points your domain and SSL at the store, loads 301 redirects from the old URLs, checks tax, shipping and every payment method with test orders, and registers the webhooks and apps your store depends on.

06

Post-Launch Monitoring - 60-Day Active Support

Sentry and integration logs are wired in before launch. During the 60-day post-launch support window Miracuves watches failed webhooks, sync errors and checkout issues, and fixes them before they reach your customers or your ERP.

Discuss Ongoing Work

Why Miracuves publishes pricesWhen you know the cost upfront you make better decisions about your store. If your BigCommerce project needs a bigger budget, Miracuves will explain exactly why - not simply charge more.

What affects BigCommerce project cost at Miracuves

Ready-made platform pricing stays fixed when your scope matches the catalogue product. Custom BigCommerce work scales with: a Stencil theme or a headless front end, the number of storefronts, currencies and languages, B2B Edition requirements (company accounts, quotes, price lists), ERP, PIM, tax and shipping integrations, the size and history of the catalog you migrate, and custom apps beyond what the App Marketplace offers.

Typical BigCommerce budget ranges

  • Ready-made platform (its own stack, not BigCommerce)from $2,1996 days
  • Custom BigCommerce workfrom $3,699depending on the work
  • Custom MVP$8,000-$25,0002-8 weeks depending on scope
  • Ongoing retainerfrom $2,299/month for feature work and maintenance

Every quote is put in writing before you pay, so no invoice arrives after kickoff that you did not agree to.

Example engagement

What a typical BigCommerce project looks like at Miracuves

An illustrative example of a typical project of this kind, with client details anonymized. Figures show what this kind of build targets, not a named client's results.

An Australian fashion retailer with 120+ SKUs selling across SE Asia, NZ, and the UK needed a BigCommerce storefront handling multi-currency pricing, international shipping rules, and localized tax without manual intervention.

  1. 01

    The Challenge

Their existing Shopify store required manual price updates per currency region, had no automated duty/tax at checkout, and suffered 22% cart abandonment from unexpected international shipping costs.

  2. 02

    What Miracuves Delivered

Architected BigCommerce Multi-Storefront with 4 regional storefronts (AUD, NZD, SGD, GBP). Built a custom BigCommerce app for real-time DDP calculation via Zonos API. Automated inventory sync across fulfillment centers in Melbourne, Auckland, and London via BigCommerce's native inventory API.

  3. 03

    Outcome

Launched in 4 weeks. Cross-border revenue grew 215% in 6 months. Cart abandonment dropped to 11%. Automated duties saved 18 hours/week of manual order processing.

What clients say about building with Miracuves

Named clients, in their own words, on commerce work Miracuves built with them - B2B ordering with tiered pricing, a payment gateway reconciled to the finance stack, and a marketplace with milestone escrow. None of the three was built on BigCommerce. Each card names what it was built on; read every testimonial on our client testimonials page.

Questions about BigCommerce development at Miracuves

Will a BigCommerce store work well on phones and in a mobile app?

Yes. Stencil themes are responsive, so one theme serves phones, tablets and desktops, and a headless front end can be tuned page by page for mobile speed. If you also want an installable shopping app, it reads the same catalog, cart and customer data through BigCommerce's APIs; Miracuves builds it as a separate mobile project, so the store and the app never hold two copies of your products.

How much does BigCommerce development cost at Miracuves?

A catalogue product has a fixed price when your scope matches it: the ready-made platform, with its web app, admin panel and mobile apps on its own stack (it is not a BigCommerce store), starts from $2,199 and ships in 6 days. Custom BigCommerce work starts from $3,699, depending on the work. A custom BigCommerce MVP typically costs $8,000-$25,000 over 2-8 weeks, and where it lands depends on whether the storefront is a Stencil theme or headless, the number of storefronts, currencies and languages, B2B Edition requirements, the ERP, PIM, tax and shipping integrations, the catalog you migrate and any custom apps. A BigCommerce retainer for feature work and maintenance starts from $2,299/month. Your BigCommerce plan and any paid apps are billed by BigCommerce and the app vendors, not by Miracuves. Every quote is written before payment, with no surprise invoices after kickoff.

Does Miracuves deliver the full source code?

Yes, for everything we build. You receive the theme source, every custom app and integration service, and any headless front end, each with its full commit history, environment configuration, API documentation and deployment credentials. The BigCommerce platform itself stays BigCommerce's: your store runs on your own BigCommerce account and plan, and your catalog, customers and orders can be exported at any time. Your team or any other company can carry on the work after handoff.

How fast can a BigCommerce store realistically be delivered?

That depends on the offer. A catalogue product that fits your idea - web app, admin panel and mobile apps - is live under your brand in 6 working days, on its own stack rather than BigCommerce. Anything built on BigCommerce is custom: a theme, an app, an integration or a whole store takes 2-8 weeks, depending on scope. You get the timeline in writing before we ask for any payment.

BigCommerce vs Shopify - which does Miracuves recommend?

It depends on the store. Miracuves recommends BigCommerce for larger catalogs, B2B selling with quotes and price lists, several storefronts from one account, and brands that want no platform transaction fee on top of card processing. We recommend Shopify for direct-to-consumer brands that want the widest choice of themes and apps and the quickest launch. Both are hosted and we build on both, so the advice does not depend on which one we sell.

What is included in the admin panel with every delivery?

Each catalogue platform ships with its own browser-based admin panel for users, orders and bookings, analytics, content, payouts and settings. A BigCommerce store is run from BigCommerce's own control panel - products, orders, customers, promotions and channels - and the custom apps Miracuves builds open inside it, so your team works in one place.

Does Miracuves handle App Store and Google Play submission?

Only the ready-made platform has phone apps to submit: Miracuves sends them to the App Store and Google Play as part of that delivery, handling certificates, listings and review coordination, while Apple and Google set the review times. BigCommerce work has no app-store step. A private app made for your store installs directly, and a public app meant for other merchants goes through BigCommerce's App Marketplace review, with Miracuves preparing and submitting the listing.

What happens after the app is delivered if there are bugs?

Each BigCommerce delivery carries 60 days of post-launch technical support: a bug in the theme, apps or integrations we handed over is fixed at no extra charge. Work outside the agreed scope is quoted on its own, and monthly maintenance retainers are offered at our published rates.

How does Miracuves handle NDA and confidentiality?

Miracuves signs a bilateral NDA before you share any project details. It covers your technical details, business logic, supplier and pricing data, and IP. An IP assignment agreement, confirming that 100% ownership of the code we write transfers to you, is signed at project start - not at the end.

Is your BigCommerce team in Navi Mumbai, or can you work with stores in Perth, Sydney or New York?

Miracuves is based in Mumbai, so brands in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai work with a team in their own city. We have no office in Perth, Sydney or New York; stores there are built remotely by the same team, with calls set in your working hours and a first response in under 2 hours, Mon-Sat 10:00-19:00 IST. BigCommerce suits remote delivery: the control panel, theme previews and app installs are all reached online, so nothing needs anyone on site.

Should I hire a freelance BigCommerce developer or a development company?

A freelancer is often enough for a theme adjustment or a single app install. Once the work spans a theme, custom apps, an ERP sync and a migration, someone has to own how those parts fit together, and that is where a company earns its fee. At Miracuves you contract with the company, not individual developers: a BigCommerce engineer, a backend engineer, QA and a project manager work to a written scope, custom work runs 2-8 weeks, and a retainer from $2,299/month keeps the same team on your store after launch.

Can Miracuves migrate our store to BigCommerce from Magento, WooCommerce or Shopify?

Yes. Products, categories, customers and order history move through BigCommerce's import tools and APIs, and every old URL gets a 301 redirect so search rankings carry over. Customer passwords usually cannot be moved, because the old platform stores them hashed, so customers set a new one at their first login. We run the migration on a preview store, check the catalog and a sample of orders with your team, and switch DNS only when both sides agree.
