In short

Miracuves builds data pipelines for companies whose numbers live in too many systems: ingestion from your apps, databases and SaaS tools, tested dbt models in a Snowflake, BigQuery or lakehouse platform, and batch or streaming loads that are safe to re-run. A custom pipeline takes 2-8 weeks; a ready-made platform ships in 6 working days. You own 100% of the source code.

Our Data Engineering Approach

How Miracuves delivers data pipelines - from 9,000+ projects of real experience

After 9,000+ projects and 3,900+ published apps, Miracuves has a fixed way of starting a data engineering job. Before anyone picks Airflow, dbt, Spark or Kafka, we pin down how fresh each table must be, which system is the source of truth for every key field, and who gets alerted when a load fails at 3am.

Pipelines are judged on what happens when they fail, not when they work. Miracuves builds loads that are idempotent by design so a rerun cannot double-count, validates schema contracts before data lands rather than after it has corrupted a report, and writes and tests backfill procedures before the first production run instead of improvising them during an incident.

Who this service is built for: Founders, CTOs and heads of data whose numbers live in too many places - a product database, a payment provider, a CRM, ad platforms and event streams - and whose reports disagree or arrive days late. Miracuves data engineering fits when you want ingestion, a warehouse or lakehouse, tested transformations and monitoring built by one accountable company, with published pricing and full IP ownership - not individual contractors. If a spreadsheet export or a single database view already answers your questions, we will say so upfront and point you to our Data Analytics team instead.

  • Idempotent loads so a rerun cannot double-count
  • Schema contracts validated before data lands
  • Backfills written and tested before the first production run
  • CI/CD on every project: DAGs and dbt models tested on each pull request from the first commit
  • Freshness and failure alerts routed to a named owner before go-live

From our Data Engineering team - engineering standard
Every pipeline Miracuves builds starts from the same written baseline: source owners and freshness targets agreed before the first DAG, every model change reviewed in a pull request, warehouse credentials kept in a secrets manager rather than the repository, and a full load tested against production-sized data before handover. Sources, volumes, access and the price are put in writing before payment.

Technology Comparison

Orchestrated ELT vs Streaming vs Managed Connectors - which is right for your project?

Most pipeline vendors avoid this question because they sell one tool. Miracuves answers it plainly - how fresh the data must be, who maintains the code and how each option is billed decide the long-term cost more than any feature list.

Choose orchestrated ELT if…

Reports and dashboards can wait minutes or hours · you want every transformation in your own repository · spend must stay predictable · one team owns ingestion, models and alerts.

Consider an alternative if…

A product feature must react in seconds - fraud checks, live inventory, alerts - so streaming with Kafka is the better fit · you only need a few standard SaaS sources copied as-is, where managed connectors are quicker · no one will own the pipeline after launch. Data engineering guide

What to decide before you hire a data engineering company

The decisions that shape a data platform, answered for data engineering specifically - what to build first, what it costs to run, and when another service is the better fit.

Do you need data engineering before analytics, data science or machine learning?

Usually yes, if your data sits in more than one system. Dashboards, forecasts and models all assume one clean, joined, current table per business entity - orders, customers, payments. Data engineering is the work that produces those tables: pulling from each source, fixing keys that do not match, and keeping the result fresh.

If that foundation already exists, go straight to the next step: Data Analytics for dashboards and reporting, Data Science for forecasting and experiments, or ML Development for models in production. If it does not, those projects spend most of their budget cleaning data by hand, and the pipeline gets built anyway, only later and less tidily.

Batch or streaming: which does your pipeline need?

Start from the decision the data feeds, not the technology. A finance report read each morning needs a nightly batch. A sales dashboard checked through the day is well served by hourly or 15-minute micro-batches. Only a product feature that must react within seconds - blocking a suspicious payment, updating stock, triggering an alert - needs true streaming.

Streaming with Kafka and change data capture costs more to build and to run, because brokers and consumers are always on and late or duplicate events must be handled. Most of our clients run batch for reporting and stream only the one or two flows that genuinely need it.

Warehouse or lakehouse?

A cloud warehouse such as Snowflake or BigQuery stores data in its own managed format and is the fastest route to SQL reporting: little to operate, and analysts are productive on day one. A lakehouse keeps data as files in your own object storage in an open table format - Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg - and lets several engines read the same tables.

Choose a warehouse when most consumers are SQL and BI tools. Consider a lakehouse when you hold large volumes of raw events, logs or files, when data scientists need the same tables in Spark or Python, or when you want to avoid tying storage to one vendor. Snowflake and BigQuery can both work with Iceberg tables, so the choice is less final than it used to be.

Managed ELT connectors or custom pipelines?

Managed connector services copy data from common SaaS tools and databases into your warehouse with almost no code, and are often the right way to start. Their limits show later: billing usually follows the rows or volume you sync, so a busy table can become the largest line on the bill, and a source they do not support still needs custom code.

Our usual pattern is mixed. Standard sources such as a CRM or an ad platform go through a connector; your own product database is replicated with change data capture; internal APIs and odd file drops get small Python extractors run by Airflow. All transformations then live in dbt, so switching a connector later does not touch a single report.

How do you keep data quality and lineage under control?

Quality is tested at three points. At the boundary, a schema contract rejects a source whose columns or types changed. In the models, dbt tests check keys, nulls, relationships and accepted values, and source freshness checks flag a feed that stopped arriving. At the end, totals are reconciled against the source system, so revenue in the warehouse matches revenue in the payment provider.

Lineage answers the question every analyst eventually asks: where did this number come from? dbt documents the path from each source table to each report, and Airflow can emit OpenLineage events so the same map covers ingestion. When a figure looks wrong, we can trace it to the load and the source row that produced it.

What does a cloud warehouse cost to run, and how do you keep it down?

Warehouse bills are driven by compute, not storage. Snowflake charges for the time a virtual warehouse runs; BigQuery on-demand pricing charges for the bytes each query scans. The expensive mistakes are the same everywhere: full reloads of large tables every hour, dashboards that re-query raw data on every view, and compute left running between jobs.

  • Incremental dbt models that process only new or changed rows.
  • Tables partitioned and clustered on the columns reports filter by.
  • Auto-suspend on Snowflake warehouses and auto-termination on Databricks clusters.
  • Budgets and alerts: Snowflake resource monitors, BigQuery quotas on bytes billed.
  • Aggregated tables for dashboards instead of queries over raw events.

Should you hire a data engineer or use an agency?

Hire in-house when data is the product or changes every week - a team that lives with the pipelines will always know them best. But a first data engineer, working alone, has to design the platform, build it and be on call for it, and becomes a single point of failure the day they go on leave.

An agency fits the build phase: Miracuves designs and delivers the first version in 2-8 weeks with the runbook, lineage and tests written down, then hands it to your hire or stays on a retainer from $2,299/month. Many clients do both - we build the platform while they recruit, then the new engineer inherits code they can read.

Technical Architecture

How Miracuves engineers structure Data Engineering projects for production

These are the specific decisions our engineers make on every data engineering project - choices that decide whether a pipeline can be re-run, extended and audited, or turns into a tangle of scheduled scripts that has to be rewritten.

  • 01

    Architecture - Clean, Feature-First Modules

Strict separation: raw → staging → marts. Every source owns its ingestion task, its staging models, its tests and its documentation in one folder, and marts only read from staging. This is how Miracuves adds a new source without breaking a report that already works.

  • 02

Structure - Modules with Clear Boundaries

Airflow decides when things run; dbt decides what the data means. The most common problem inherited from other agencies: business rules buried in DAG code or scheduled SQL scripts, where they cannot be tested in isolation or read by an analyst. We keep them in version-controlled dbt models with tests from day one, as a hard standard - not a suggestion.

  • 03

    Reliability - Idempotency and Backfills

Every load is idempotent, so a retry or a replayed batch cannot double-count. Schema contracts are validated at the boundary and a breaking upstream change fails the pipeline rather than silently poisoning downstream tables. Data quality tests run before publish, not after someone spots a wrong number in a dashboard, and backfill procedures are written and rehearsed before the first production run.

What most Data Engineering agencies get wrong

Pipelines that double-count on rerun. No CI pipeline. No schema contract with upstream teams. Hardcoded API keys in source. Backfills invented during the first incident. We have been handed pipelines with every one of these faults, and fixing them after dashboards depend on them always costs more than building them right.

load_orders.py - Airflow idempotent daily load
# Loads one day of orders; a rerun replaces that day, never appends# The same date can be re-run safely during a backfill@task(retries=3)def load_orders(ds: str) -> None:    rows = extract_orders(day=ds)          # source API, one day    check_contract(rows, ORDERS_V2)   # fail before landing    with warehouse.transaction() as tx:        tx.execute("DELETE FROM raw.orders WHERE load_date = %s", [ds])        tx.insert("raw.orders", rows, load_date=ds)    emit_lineage("raw.orders", ds, len(rows))
An Airflow task that loads one day of orders. It checks the schema contract before anything lands, then replaces that day's rows inside one transaction, so a retry or a backfill of the same date cannot double-count.

Quality Standards

How Miracuves ensures every data engineering delivery meets production standard

Every pipeline passes through Miracuves' quality gates before handoff - not as a checklist, but because a wrong number that reaches a board report costs more than any delay.

  • Idempotent by design - reruns are safeState
  • Data quality tests run before publish, not afterData quality
  • Reconciliation - row counts and totals matched to each source systemQA

Enforced QA Gates

Our 6 Continuous Delivery Gateways

Every DAG, dbt model and infrastructure file must clear all six quality gates below before the repository is handed over.

01

Code Review on Every Pull Request

Every DAG, dbt model and Terraform change merged into your main branch is reviewed by a senior Miracuves data engineer. Nothing reaches the production warehouse without passing that review and its tests.

02

Automated Test Coverage Required

dbt tests on keys, nulls, relationships and accepted values, contract tests on every source schema, and an end-to-end run on sample data. A model without tests is not merged, and no release is cut below the agreed coverage.

03

Full Loads Profiled - Not Sample Runs

Miracuves times every pipeline on production-sized data, using the Spark UI and the warehouse query history, before handover. A run on a small sample says nothing about how long the real nightly load takes or what it costs, and is never accepted as sufficient.

04

Handoff Package - Not Just a Repository

Source code, documentation, environment setup guide, lineage and model documentation, deployment credentials, warehouse access, and a runbook with backfill steps - all included in every project handoff.

05

Production Deploy - Infrastructure as Code

Miracuves deploys pipelines to your AWS, GCP or Azure account with Terraform - warehouse roles and permissions, secrets, schedules, network access and a rollback path - so the whole environment can be rebuilt from the repository.

06

Post-Launch Monitoring - 60-Day Active Support

Freshness, volume and failure alerts are configured before launch. During the 60-day post-launch support window Miracuves watches late loads, failed tests and warehouse spend, and acts before a wrong number reaches a report.

Discuss Ongoing Work

Why Miracuves publishes pricesKnowing the cost upfront lets you decide how many sources to take on in the first phase. If your pipeline needs a larger budget - more history to backfill, streaming, stricter lineage - Miracuves will explain exactly why, not simply charge more.

What affects Data Engineering project cost at Miracuves

Readymade platform pricing stays fixed when scope matches the base product. Custom data engineering builds scale with: the number of sources and how clean their APIs are, data volume and history to backfill, freshness targets (daily batch, hourly or streaming), transformation and business-rule complexity, data quality and lineage requirements, and the warehouse or lakehouse you run on.

Typical Data Engineering budget ranges

  • Readymade clonefrom $2,1996 days
  • Custom MVP$8,000-$25,0002-8 weeks depending on scope
  • Ongoing retainerfrom $2,299/month for feature work and maintenance

Every figure is confirmed in a written quote before you pay - nothing is invoiced outside it after kickoff.

Example engagement

What a typical data engineering project looks like at Miracuves

An illustrative example of a typical project of this kind, with client details anonymized. Figures show what this kind of build targets, not a named client's results.

A fast-growing fintech company needed a real-time data pipeline to unify transaction data from 12 sources - payment gateways, banking APIs, fraud detection systems, and user analytics - into a single analytics warehouse with sub-5-minute latency.

  1. 01

    The Challenge

Disparate data sources with inconsistent schemas, high-volume transaction streams (50M+/day), real-time fraud detection requirements, and a week-long batch reporting delay that made business decisions reactive rather than proactive.

  2. 02

    What Miracuves Delivered

Deployed a Spark + Kafka streaming pipeline with Airflow orchestration, dbt transformations in Snowflake, real-time dashboards in Grafana, and automated quality checks with Great Expectations - all within 10 weeks.

  3. 03

    Outcome

Reporting latency dropped from 7 days to 3 minutes. Fraud detection improved by 60%. The client gained real-time visibility into transaction flows, user behaviour, and revenue metrics - enabling same-day business decisions.

Frequently Asked

Questions about data engineering at Miracuves

Something not covered here? Ask on WhatsApp and you will usually have an answer within two hours.

Ask us directly
What does Miracuves deliver as part of a data engineering engagement?

Every engagement delivers a production-grade data pipeline including: Apache Spark or Kafka-based data processing, Airflow DAG orchestration, dbt data transformations, Snowflake or BigQuery warehouse setup, infrastructure-as-code via Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring dashboards, and full documentation - with 100% source code and infrastructure ownership transferred to the client.

How much does data engineering cost at Miracuves?

A ready-made platform starts from $2,199 and ships in 6 days when your scope matches the base product. A custom data engineering MVP typically runs $8,000-$25,000 and takes 2-8 weeks depending on scope - the number of sources, data volume and history to backfill, batch or streaming freshness, transformation complexity, data quality and lineage requirements, and the warehouse you run on decide where it lands. Ongoing data engineering is available from $2,299/month for feature work and maintenance. Every quote is written before payment, with no surprise invoices after kickoff.

How long does a typical data pipeline project take?

A custom data pipeline - covering data ingestion, transformation, storage, orchestration, and dashboarding - takes 2-8 weeks depending on data volume, source complexity, and integration requirements; larger scopes are quoted in writing before work starts. Timeline and pricing are documented in writing before any payment is requested.

Does Miracuves handle both batch and real-time streaming pipelines?

Yes. Miracuves builds both batch processing pipelines using Apache Spark and Airflow, and real-time streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka, KStreams, and Spark Structured Streaming. We assess your latency requirements and data volume to recommend the right architecture.

Batch vs streaming - which approach does Miracuves recommend?

For most data engineering use cases - analytics, reporting, data warehousing - batch processing with Spark and Airflow is the right starting point. Miracuves recommends streaming with Kafka when you need sub-minute latency, real-time fraud detection, or event-driven architectures. We tell you which fits before any commitment.

What data quality guarantees does Miracuves provide?

Every pipeline includes automated data quality testing via dbt tests and Great Expectations, with freshness, completeness and accuracy thresholds agreed with you and measured from the first run. Records that fail a test are held back and reported rather than silently loaded, and all quality failures trigger automated Airflow alerts.

Can Miracuves integrate with our existing cloud infrastructure?

Yes. Miracuves builds pipelines that deploy on AWS, GCP, or Azure using Terraform infrastructure-as-code. We integrate with existing S3, GCS, or ADLS storage, existing databases via JDBC/CDC connectors, and existing authentication and networking - no forced migration to a specific cloud provider.

What happens after the data pipeline is delivered if there are issues?

Every pipeline Miracuves hands over carries 60 days of post-launch technical support. Pipeline performance issues, data quality regressions, and integration bugs within the delivered scope are fixed at no additional cost. Feature additions beyond scope are quoted separately. Monthly maintenance retainers are available at published rates.

How does Miracuves handle data security and compliance?

A bilateral NDA is signed before you share a schema, a sample file or a credential. All pipelines implement encryption at rest and in transit, IAM-based access control, secret management via Vault or cloud-native KMS, and audit logging. The IP assignment confirming 100% ownership of the pipelines, models and infrastructure code is signed at project start, not at handover.

Can Miracuves build the Android app and the data pipeline behind it?

Yes. Miracuves builds Android and iOS apps as well as data pipelines, so one team can design the event tracking inside the app and the warehouse tables it lands in. We agree an event plan first - names, properties and user identifiers - then instrument the app, stream or batch the events into BigQuery, Snowflake or your lakehouse, and join them with orders and payments from your backend. Mobile work is quoted separately from the pipeline; see our Android app development page.

Can you take over or fix a pipeline another team built?

Yes. We start with a short audit of the existing DAGs, scripts and warehouse: which loads double-count on rerun, which tables have no tests, where credentials sit in code and what the warehouse spend is going on. You get a written list of fixes in priority order with a fixed quote, and we can repair the pipeline in place rather than rebuild it when the design is sound.

Will you work alongside our in-house data or analytics team?

Yes, and it is a common setup. Your analysts keep ownership of the business logic in dbt while Miracuves builds the ingestion, orchestration, testing and infrastructure underneath. Every change goes through pull requests in your repository, so your team reviews our work as it lands and can run the platform without us after handover.
