In short

Miracuves is a Symfony development company that builds custom PHP backends, APIs with API Platform, and upgrades of existing Symfony applications for SaaS, e-commerce and enterprise teams. Custom Symfony work takes 2-8 weeks; if one of our 90+ ready-made platforms fits, it launches under your brand in 6 working days. We deliver remotely from Mumbai, and you own 100% of the source code.

Our Symfony Approach

How Miracuves delivers Symfony applications - from 9,000+ projects of real experience

After deploying 9,000+ projects and publishing 3,900+ applications, Miracuves has a specific way of working with Symfony. We start from the components and bundles we use on every project - SecurityBundle for login and roles, Messenger for background jobs, API Platform for the API, EasyAdmin for back-office screens - wired to your payment gateway, maps and data sources, not from a blank skeleton.

One Symfony application can serve server-rendered pages through Twig, a REST or GraphQL API through API Platform and an admin back office - one codebase, one deployment pipeline and one test suite. Your mobile apps and JavaScript front end call the same API, and the full source code is yours on handoff.

Who this service is built for: Founders, product teams and IT leads who need a PHP backend that will be maintained for years - B2B platforms, SaaS products, e-commerce back ends, API backends for mobile apps, and companies with an existing Symfony application to upgrade or extend. Miracuves Symfony development fits when you want a custom Symfony build, or a ready-made platform to start from, with published pricing, full IP ownership, and a company accountable for delivery - not individual contractors. If you need the fastest route to a conventional web MVP, or a small site on shared hosting, we will say so upfront and recommend Laravel or CodeIgniter instead.

  • Symfony Messenger for async jobs, Doctrine ORM for data: clean separation of concerns on every project
  • REST/GraphQL API design with OpenAPI specs: predictable contracts between frontend and backend
  • CI/CD via GitHub Actions on every project: PHPUnit, static analysis and a Doctrine schema check run from the first commit
  • Production deployment fully managed: Composer, PHP-FPM, Redis, database migrations

Technology Comparison

Symfony vs Laravel vs CodeIgniter - which is right for your project?

Most PHP shops pick one of these three frameworks and use it for everything. Miracuves builds in all three, so we can tell you which one is cheaper over the life of your product - long-term support, hiring and upgrade cost included - and when Symfony is not the answer.

Choose Symfony if…

You need enterprise PHP with long-term stability · complex domain logic with bundles · REST/GraphQL API backend · multi-tenant SaaS architecture · one team owning the full stack.

Consider an alternative if…

Your team already builds in Laravel, or the fastest route to a first version matters most (Laravel fits better) · the product is mostly real-time chat or streaming, where Node.js fits better · your team works in Python/Django · simple static site. We are honest when Symfony is not the right tool for your specific use case. See Django →

Symfony guide

What to know before you hire a Symfony development company

The questions buyers ask before hiring a Symfony team, answered for Symfony specifically - when it beats Laravel, what the ecosystem gives you, how long versions are supported, and how upgrades, microservices and hiring work.

When should you choose Symfony over Laravel?

Choose Symfony when the application will live for years, carry complex business rules and be maintained by more than one team. Symfony pushes you toward explicit configuration, dependency injection and small services. That costs a little more setup on day one and pays back when a new developer has to change the invoicing rules three years later. Its long-term support releases come with a published end-of-life calendar, so upgrades can be planned instead of forced.

Choose Laravel when speed to a first version matters most, the product is a conventional web app, or your team already knows it. We build in both, and our Laravel development team is the better fit for a fast MVP. For a small app on shared hosting, CodeIgniter is lighter still.

What are Symfony components and bundles, and why do they matter?

Symfony is two things: a set of standalone PHP components (HttpFoundation, Console, Messenger, Serializer, Validator and dozens more) and a full-stack framework that assembles them. Laravel and Drupal are built on several of those components, so the code at the heart of a Symfony app is some of the most widely run PHP there is.

Bundles are Symfony's plugins, and Symfony Flex installs one with its default configuration in a single Composer command. We use well-maintained bundles rather than writing our own:

  • API Platform for REST and GraphQL APIs with OpenAPI documentation
  • EasyAdmin for back-office screens
  • Doctrine ORM and Migrations for the database
  • Symfony UX for interactive pages without a separate JavaScript front end

Should a Symfony API be built with API Platform?

Usually, yes. API Platform turns your Doctrine entities or plain PHP classes into a REST API with pagination, filtering, validation and OpenAPI documentation generated from the same code, and it can expose a GraphQL endpoint from the same resources. For a CRUD-heavy backend serving a mobile app or a React front end, that removes weeks of repetitive controller code.

It is not always the right tool. Endpoints that are really commands - approve this loan, re-run this payout - are often clearer as plain Symfony controllers that dispatch a Messenger message, and we mix both in one app. If your question is API design rather than Symfony, see our API development and GraphQL API development services.

Which Symfony version should a new project use, and how long is it supported?

Symfony ships a new minor version every six months, in May and November, and a new major version every two years. The last minor release of each major line is a long-term support (LTS) release: bugs are fixed for three years and security issues for four. Other minor releases are maintained for eight months, so staying on them means upgrading twice a year.

Our rule of thumb: if a team or a retainer will take each minor upgrade as it comes, start on the latest stable release. If the app will be touched rarely after launch, start on the current LTS and plan one larger upgrade before its support ends. Either way, the version and its end-of-support date go into the proposal in writing, along with the minimum PHP version your hosting must run.

Can you upgrade an old Symfony application?

Yes, and it is one of the Symfony jobs we are asked to quote most. Symfony is designed to be upgraded one major version at a time: anything that will break in the next major is flagged as a deprecation in the last minor release of the current one. So moving an old Symfony 2, 3 or 4 app forward is a series of steps - reach the last minor of the line, clear the deprecation log, move up one major, repeat - usually alongside a PHP upgrade. The work covers:

  • An audit first: test coverage, deprecation count, outdated and abandoned bundles
  • Tests around the critical flows before any code moves
  • Automated refactoring with Rector, checked by PHPStan
  • Annotations moved to PHP attributes and configuration moved to current recipes

Is Symfony a good choice for microservices?

It can be. A Symfony service can start from the minimal skeleton without Twig or Doctrine, which keeps a small service small. Messenger sends and consumes messages over RabbitMQ, Redis or Amazon SQS, HttpClient handles service-to-service calls, and every service shares the same security, logging and testing conventions.

The honest caveat: PHP's usual request-per-process model suits request/response services and queue workers, but services holding thousands of long-lived connections - chat, streaming, live location - are usually better in Node.js or Go. Many teams also split too early, and a well-structured Symfony monolith with Messenger queues is often the cheaper first step. If the architecture decision is the real question, our microservices development team starts there.

Should you hire a Symfony contractor or a Symfony development company?

A freelance Symfony contractor works well when you already have a technical lead, a test suite and a clear task - a bundle upgrade, one integration, extra hands for a sprint. You manage the work, review the code and carry the delivery risk.

A development company fits when you need the whole outcome: architecture, QA, deployment, documentation and someone accountable for the date. With Miracuves that means a written scope and price before payment, an NDA and IP assignment signed at the start, weekly working demos, and a team rather than one person whose holiday stops the project. We are based in Mumbai and work remotely with clients in the USA, Europe and elsewhere.

Technical Architecture

How Miracuves engineers structure Symfony projects for production

These are the decisions our engineers make on every Symfony project - how bundles and services are organized, where async work runs and how performance is proven - the choices that decide whether a Symfony app stays easy to upgrade or ends up needing a rewrite.

  • 01

    Architecture - Clean, Feature-First Modules

Strict separation: Controller → Service → Repository. Every feature folder owns its entities, DTOs, event listeners, and repository classes independently. This is how Miracuves adds a new API endpoint in 2 days without breaking existing functionality.

  • 02

State - Symfony Messenger for Async, Doctrine for Persistence

Messenger keeps async jobs predictable and testable, with retries and a failure transport configured per message. The most common problem inherited from other agencies: direct database writes inside controllers with business logic. From the first commit, controllers only validate, dispatch and respond - business rules live in services and handlers.

  • 03

Performance - Redis Caching and Doctrine Query Optimization

Every endpoint that can be cached is configured with Redis. Heavy operations run in Messenger handlers to keep the request thread free. We profile the prod environment with Blackfire - the dev environment, with the debug toolbar on, is never used as a performance benchmark.

What most Symfony agencies get wrong

APP_DEBUG left on in production. No CI pipeline. Business logic in controllers. Credentials committed to .env instead of Symfony's secrets vault or real environment variables. No load testing before launch. Miracuves has inherited Symfony codebases with every one of these, and fixing them after launch always costs more than setting them up correctly on day one.

OrderController.php - Symfony Messenger
<?php// Order API: validate, queue, answer at once// Used in e-commerce and order-processing backendsnamespace App\Controller;use App\Dto\OrderRequest;use App\Message\CreateOrder;use Symfony\Bundle\FrameworkBundle\Controller\AbstractController;use Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\{JsonResponse, Response};use Symfony\Component\HttpKernel\Attribute\MapRequestPayload;use Symfony\Component\Messenger\MessageBusInterface;use Symfony\Component\Routing\Attribute\Route;final class OrderController extends AbstractController{    public function __construct(private readonly MessageBusInterface $bus) {}    #[Route('/api/orders', methods: ['POST'])]    public function create(#[MapRequestPayload] OrderRequest $order): JsonResponse    {        // Invalid payloads are rejected with their validation errors before this runs        $this->bus->dispatch(new CreateOrder($order->customerId, $order->items));        return $this->json(['status' => 'queued'], Response::HTTP_ACCEPTED);    }}
The controller validates the payload, dispatches a command to a Messenger transport and returns 202 at once. A worker process creates the order, charges the card and sends the email; failed messages are retried and then parked in a failure transport, so a slow payment provider never ties up a PHP-FPM worker.

Quality Standards

How Miracuves ensures every Symfony delivery meets production standard

Every Symfony project passes through Miracuves' quality gates before handoff - tests, static analysis, profiling and a documented deploy - applied as a delivery standard to every codebase we ship, not ticked off as a checklist at the end.

  • Clean architecture - Controller / Service / Repository separatedArchitecture
  • Messenger + Doctrine - no business logic in controllersState
  • Symfony Profiler in development, Blackfire on the prod environment - no performance blind spotsPerformance
  • Load testing - realistic traffic simulated before launch, hot paths profiled with BlackfireQA

  • No secrets in source - Symfony secrets vault or environment variables onlySecurity
  • Production-ready - load tested, documented, handed overDelivery

Enforced QA Gates

Our 6 Continuous Delivery Gateways

Every Symfony bundle, Doctrine migration and environment config must clear all six quality gates before the repository is handed over.

01

Code Review on Every Pull Request

Every pull request into your main branch is reviewed by a senior Miracuves Symfony engineer, with PHPStan and the test suite green before merge. Code without tests does not reach your production environment.

02

Automated Test Coverage Required

PHPUnit unit tests for services and domain logic, functional tests with Symfony's WebTestCase for controllers and API endpoints, and integration tests against a real database for Doctrine repositories. Minimum coverage is enforced before any release is tagged.

03

Prod Environment Profiled - Not Debug Mode

Miracuves profiles every release in the prod environment with Blackfire - container compiled, OPcache preloading on, debug off. Numbers from the dev environment, where the profiler and debug toolbar slow every request, are never accepted as evidence.

04

Handoff Package - Not Just a Repository

Source code, documentation, environment setup guide, OpenAPI documentation, deployment credentials, the Symfony secrets vault keys handed over securely, and a post-launch runbook - all included in every project handoff.

05

Production Deployment - Server Configuration & Launch

Miracuves handles server provisioning, Docker containerization, database migration, SSL certificates, CDN configuration, and deployment process coordination for your production environment.

06

Post-Launch Monitoring - 60-Day Active Support

Blackfire and monitoring dashboards are configured before launch. During the 60-day post-launch support window Miracuves watches response times, error rates and Messenger queue depth, and acts on what they show rather than waiting for a bug report.

Why Miracuves publishes pricesA Symfony budget is easier to plan when you know upfront what moves it - the domain model, integrations, API surface and, for existing apps, the upgrade distance. If your project requires a larger budget, Miracuves will explain exactly which of these drives it - not simply charge more.

What affects Symfony project cost at Miracuves

Readymade clone pricing stays fixed when your scope matches the base product. Custom Symfony builds scale with: the size of the domain model and the number of user roles, how many API endpoints you need and whether GraphQL is needed alongside REST, integrations with ERP, CRM, payment or shipping systems, background workflows on Messenger, multi-tenant or multi-language requirements, and - for existing apps - how many major Symfony versions an upgrade has to cross.

Typical Symfony budget ranges

  • Readymade clonefrom $2,1996 days
  • Custom Symfony backend workfrom $3,699depending on the work
  • Custom MVP$8,000-$25,0002-8 weeks depending on scope
  • Ongoing retainerfrom $2,299/month for feature work and maintenance

Frequently Asked

Questions about Symfony development at Miracuves

Something not covered here? Ask on WhatsApp and you will usually have an answer within two hours.

Ask us directly
Can Symfony applications handle enterprise-scale traffic?

Yes. Laravel and Drupal are both built on Symfony components, and scale comes from architecture rather than the framework alone: Doctrine query and result caching, Redis for sessions and cache pools, HTTP caching in front of the app, and slow work moved to Messenger workers so PHP-FPM stays free. PHP shares nothing between requests, so capacity grows by adding app servers behind a load balancer. We load-test every production deployment against your expected traffic before launch and monitor it after.

How much does Symfony development cost at Miracuves?

Readymade clone pricing stays fixed when your scope matches the base product: a ready-made platform starts from $2,199 and ships in 6 working days. Custom Symfony backend work starts from $3,699, depending on the work. A custom Symfony MVP typically runs $8,000-$25,000 and takes 2-8 weeks depending on scope. Where it lands depends on the size of the domain model and user roles, the number of API endpoints, integrations with ERP, CRM, payment or shipping systems, background workflows, multi-tenant or multi-language needs, and for existing apps how many major versions an upgrade crosses. Ongoing Symfony development is available from $2,299/month for feature work and maintenance. Every quote is written before payment, with no surprise invoices after kickoff.

Does Miracuves deliver the full source code?

Yes - completely. Miracuves delivers the full Symfony codebase, the repository with complete commit history, environment configuration and secrets handover, OpenAPI documentation, and all deployment credentials. Zero lock-in: the app follows Symfony's standard directory structure and best practices rather than a house framework, so any Symfony developer can continue the work after handoff.

How fast can a Symfony app realistically be delivered?

A ready-made platform from our catalogue - web app, admin panel and mobile apps under your brand - ships in 6 working days. A custom Symfony application or API takes 2-8 weeks depending on scope; larger scopes, such as multi-version upgrades of big legacy apps, are quoted in writing before work starts. All timelines are stated in writing before any payment is requested.

Symfony vs Laravel - which does Miracuves recommend?

Neither by default - it depends on the product's lifespan and complexity. We recommend Symfony for complex domain logic, long-lived enterprise platforms, API-first backends built with API Platform, and teams that want LTS releases with a published support calendar. We recommend Laravel when speed to a first version matters most, the app is a conventional web product, or your team already knows Laravel. Both run on the same PHP servers, and Laravel itself uses Symfony components.

What is included in the admin panel with every delivery?

A web-based admin panel with user management, order and booking management, analytics dashboard, content control, payout and commission management, and platform configuration settings. On ready-made platforms it ships as a separate web application that works in any browser; on a custom Symfony build it can be built with EasyAdmin inside the same app, sharing your entities and security rules.

Does Miracuves handle production server deployment?

Yes, as part of every delivery engagement. Miracuves provisions the servers or containers, configures PHP-FPM, OPcache and Nginx, sets up the database and runs Doctrine migrations, manages Symfony secrets per environment, runs Messenger workers under a process supervisor, and wires up SSL, CDN and monitoring. For ready-made platforms that include mobile apps, we also handle app store submission.

What happens after the app is delivered if there are bugs?

Every Miracuves delivery includes 60 days of post-launch technical support, and bugs in the delivered Symfony code are fixed at no additional cost during that window. Feature additions beyond scope are quoted separately. Monthly maintenance retainers, which also cover Symfony and PHP upgrades, are available at published rates.

How does Miracuves handle NDA and confidentiality?

An NDA is signed with Miracuves before you share any project details, and it covers all technical details, business logic and IP. The IP assignment agreement confirming that 100% ownership of the Symfony code transfers to you is signed at project start - not at the end.

Do you work with Symfony clients in the USA and Europe?

Yes. Miracuves is based in Mumbai and delivers Symfony projects remotely for clients in the USA, Poland and the rest of Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere; we have no local offices in those countries. Work runs through a shared repository, weekly demo calls at a time that overlaps your working day, and written updates. First response is under 2 hours, Monday to Saturday, 10:00-19:00 IST, and the NDA is signed before any project detail is shared.

Can you build a social network with Symfony?

Yes. Symfony handles the core of a social product well: accounts and roles with the Security component, follows and posts modelled in Doctrine, notifications and media processing handed to Messenger workers, and live updates pushed to browsers and apps through Mercure. The part to design up front is the feed, which at scale is usually precomputed per user in Redis rather than queried on every page view. If a Reddit-style community fits your idea, our ready-made Reddit clone launches under your brand in 6 working days; custom Symfony work takes 2-8 weeks.

Can you take over a Symfony project another team started?

Yes. We start with a short code audit: whether it installs and runs from the README, how much test coverage it has, how many deprecations and outdated or abandoned bundles it carries, whether secrets are committed to the repository, and whether the Doctrine mappings match the database. You get the findings and a written plan - fix and continue, upgrade first, or rebuild the parts that cannot be saved - before any development is priced. The full source code and its history stay yours throughout.
