White Label Video Streaming Platform Cost: Software Is the Small Line
A streaming budget usually prices the software and then forgets what decides whether the service survives. Delivery costs grow with hours watched rather than with sign-ups, and the catalog has to be licensed before anyone has anything to press play on. This page sets out what each route costs for the software itself, what our price covers, and what always sits outside any platform quote.
Get Exact Pricing →See What ShipsWhat Each Route Costs for the Platform Itself
Four ways to put a streaming service in front of viewers, set side by side on the software only. Content and delivery costs are covered further down, because they apply to every route.
| What you are buying | Rented or hosted platform | One-time script | Custom build | Miracuves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Software price | Hosted OTT rents at roughly $399 to $3,900 a month; creator-video tools at roughly $49 to $499 a month plus per-subscriber fees | Roughly $250 to $1,500 on the open market, with code-marketplace listings from under $10 to around $600 | A multi-quarter program with a senior team | $3,699 one time |
| Payment pattern | Recurring, for as long as the service runs | One time, then your own hosting | Build cost, then hosting and maintenance | One time, with hosting and bandwidth on your own accounts |
| Time to first stream | Quick, on the vendor's terms | Setup and app work fall to you | Quarters, with producer tooling built last | Six working days |
| Mobile apps | Varies by plan | Cheaper tiers often ship web-view apps rather than native ones | Built to your specification | Flutter apps for Android and iOS, plus a web app |
| Producer revenue sharing | Rarely offered | Usually absent | Yours to design, and easy to get wrong | Payout on minutes viewed, with approvals and payout requests, in the base package |
| Source code | You rent access and never hold it | Some vendors withhold it from every published tier | Yours once the contract is settled | Complete and unobfuscated, transferred with the database |
| Share of your revenue | Per-subscriber fees on some plans | None | None | None |
| Where the video sits | On the vendor's infrastructure, often with delivery bundled into the fee | On your servers | On your storage and CDN | On the cloud and CDN accounts you pick |
| Leaving later | You migrate a catalog and a subscriber base | You keep what you installed | You keep what you built | Nothing to leave, since it runs on your accounts |
A subscription often bundles hosting, delivery and even some licensing, so the honest comparison is a one-time software price against a recurring fee. It is not a claim that the total cost of launching is lower.
What the Price Includes
The $3,699 ready-made package is the working platform you see in the demo, delivered as white-label software you own.
Compare the producer panel line against any other quote. It is the item most often missing at this price, and it separates a library you run from a network that others supply.
What Moves the Number
The ready-made price does not move. The six items below sit beyond it as Enterprise scope, and the first one can decide your tier by itself.
DRM
Studio-grade rights management is Enterprise scope. Content licensors often write Widevine or FairPlay into the agreement, which turns it from a nice-to-have into a condition of getting the content at all. Bring it up before you negotiate a single license.
Smart TV apps
Android, iOS and the web are covered. Apps for Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Samsung or LG are quoted separately, each one with its own store process and review cycle.
Provider catalog integrations
The acquisition API is part of the package. Connecting a named content provider through its own API keys and metadata format is scoped for that provider.
Complex producer models
Minutes-based payouts under a rule you configure are included. Extended contracts, automated statements, licensing terms and multi-producer analytics fall under Enterprise scope, so it pays to scope them early if agreements already exist.
AI recommendations
Discovery in the base package is curated by you through banners, genres and hand-built shelves. Machine-learned suggestions from watch history are Enterprise scope, and they repay their cost only once the catalog outgrows manual curation.
Multi-region and custom infrastructure
A single deployment on your preferred cloud is included. Rollout across regions, custom infrastructure and advanced analytics are quoted against your plan.
These boundaries are published before purchase. A price that finds reasons to rise later usually depends on leaving such items unmentioned.
The Six-Day Path to Live
What each working day covers, and what to have ready before it starts.
Day one - decide the model and the tier
Which revenue paths open at launch, whether producers are onboarded, how content will arrive, and whether DRM or Smart TV apps take you into Enterprise scope. The DRM answer comes first because it changes the plan for every later day.
Day two - servers, storage and delivery
The backend goes onto your chosen cloud with its database, object storage and CDN wired up for video, and the delivery path is tested before any title exists. Backups, recovery and monitoring are configured in the same pass.
Day three - shape the catalog, prove playback
Genres, categories and the formats you use are set up, whether films, series, standalone video, trailers or live channels. Playback is then checked on real devices over HLS or MP4, including any 360 VR-ready titles.
Day four - your brand on every screen
Name, icon, splash screen and color theme are applied to both mobile apps, the web platform and the producer and admin panels. Email templates and invoices carry your brand, and your domain is connected.
Day five - money rules and producer accounts
Your gateway credentials go in and are tested, plans are priced, rental windows and pay-per-view unlocks are set, and coupons are prepared. If you run a network, producers are created and the payout rule and approval flow are walked through with you.
Day six - full trace, then handover
One title travels from producer proposal through approval, access, playback and logged minutes to a payout request. The repository and credentials then pass to you, Android publishing support begins and the support window opens.
Six days covers deployment only. Buying content and clearing the rights to stream it runs on a separate clock, and it is usually the longest wait before a real launch.
Regional Development Rates
Should a fully custom build be the better fit, these rates let you size it against your own market instead of trusting a headline figure. Custom work of that kind lives on our OTT app development service page.
| Region | Senior engineer, blended hourly | What an OTT build implies here |
|---|---|---|
| North America | $120 - $220 | The high end of any build-versus-buy comparison, and the reason most operators in this bracket buy |
| Western Europe | $90 - $170 | Comparable once employer costs and notice periods are included |
| Gulf and Middle East | $60 - $130 | Often the market being served, which makes local hiring attractive and the timeline no shorter |
| Eastern Europe | $45 - $95 | The common outsourcing choice, where risk shifts from cost to specification quality |
| Latin America | $40 - $85 | Time-zone overlap with North America is the usual reason, not the rate |
| South and Southeast Asia | $25 - $60 | The lowest rate, and the one where streaming-specific experience varies most between teams |
Why there is no from-scratch total here
In this category the build is the modest figure. A custom total swings with your team and region, yet the service it supports lives or dies on two other lines: the rights to the catalog and the cost of delivering video. Both recur, both climb with success, and no engineering quote can forecast either. A business case that models the build carefully and the delivery hopefully has modeled the wrong thing. Use the rates for the build, then forecast hours watched on their own.
The rates are indicative blended figures for streaming engineering and are not quotes. They are here so you can do the sums yourself.
Why the Price Is Fixed, Not "Starting At"
$3,699 is the full price of the ready-made package. Enterprise work is quoted apart, and where one ends and the other begins is written down in advance.
What a fixed price commits us to
- You get what the demo showsThe viewer apps, web platform, producer panel and admin console you can open today are what gets deployed, with your branding and self-hosted on your side. No tier of the package is held back.
- The Enterprise line is drawn in publicDRM, Smart TV apps, AI recommendations, complex producer models, provider integrations and multi-region rollout are named as Enterprise scope on the hub. A floor price works by staying silent about exactly those.
- Setup is not a change orderEntering your plans, rental windows, PPV prices, genres, banners and payout rule counts as deployment work and carries no extra charge.
- No slice of your incomeWe take no percentage of subscriptions, rentals or pay-per-view, and charge no per-stream fee. A platform cut on top of licensing and delivery costs would sit on the exact viewing that costs you most.
- Delivery billed to you directlyYou pay a real bandwidth bill, but it comes from your own cloud and CDN account without a reseller margin, and you can tune it yourself.
- Everything transfersSource, database and credentials pass to you, and rebranding is part of the price instead of an upgrade.
Two tiers exist so the ready-made price can stay put. If DRM or TV apps are genuinely needed, you should see a quote against real scope rather than a surcharge on this figure.
Hidden Costs Most Quotes Leave Out
None of these is a charge from us, and in streaming the first two routinely outweigh the software. A plan that leaves them out is missing rows, not being optimistic.
Licensing the catalog
Nothing to watch ships with the software. Paying for titles and holding streaming rights in your territories for a fixed window is usually the largest recurring line, often by a wide margin.
CDN delivery
It tracks hours watched, not sign-ups. A few hundred people streaming every night can cost more to serve than thousands who registered and never returned, which reverses the usual software-subscription instinct.
Storage for masters and renditions
Video is expensive to keep. The original files and each version you serve stay on the bill for as long as you hold the rights, and the total only rises.
Encoding at ingest
Every title has to be converted into the versions adaptive streaming needs. That is charged by the minute of content, and again whenever you revise your ladder of quality levels.
DRM provider fees
On top of the Enterprise integration, DRM services generally bill per license issued or per stream. If your content contracts require it, this becomes a permanent cost linked to viewing.
App store accounts
Android publishing support is included, but the developer accounts, annual fees and review cycles are yours. iOS compilation, signing and App Store submission are a separate scope, and store commission on in-app purchases is a further question.
Gateway, SMS and push accounts
These are opened in your name, with transaction fees and message costs billed to you. Approval times differ by market and can set your launch date.
Finding producers and viewers
The panel and payout logic are built. Recruiting partners worth onboarding, agreeing terms and persuading viewers away from far larger libraries is the real work, and it needs a marketing budget of its own.
We list them because a quote without these rows is not cheaper, only unfinished. Every one applies whoever supplies the platform.
Choosing who supplies the platform
Rented platforms, script vendors, custom agencies and Miracuves compared, with the questions to ask each and four named client deployments, on the Provider page.
